Tony Larzon wanted to travel and explore new things without stress, mass tourism and without the constant pursuit of a perfect image for social media. That is why he started his company Rough Expeditions. There he brings ordinary people on expeditions that most people won´t even dream of. We thought this was so interesting that we decided to write an article about him, his expedition members and of course the expedition.
Please tell us more about your company Rough Expeditions.
Rough Expeditions organize expeditions and different ways to travel where you don't have a precise agenda. Most people never have and will never experience that. You go to new places where ordinary tourists will not never go. We drive to small villages far out on the savanna, across mountain ranges, visit oases and cross the Sahara Desert. We don't have a guide that drives us around. You drive us around in our expedition kitted cars, we camp in the wild - where no one else has camped before us, and last but not least, you will get a first hand experience of the proximity to the wildlife. When you travel with Rough Expedition, you are no charter tourist. You are an expedition member.
How did you get the idea that you wanted to make expeditions?
Long before I started Rough Expeditions, I dreamt about driving from Sweden to Cape Town. I wanted to go on an adventure far away from stress, mass tourism and the constant chasing of new things to photograph. Instead, I wanted to let the adventures come to me, and thanks to my robust and expedition-equipped Land Rover Defender, I have been able to plan my dream trips and travel in the best way possible. When I am done with the first stage in the planning process, I upload it to my website to see if there are other people who would find it interesting and fun. I have been on many expeditions in Afrika and eastern Europe, in countries as: Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Iran and Iraq. I have also done some mountain expeditions, like Mount Ararat and the Atlas Mountains.
Could you tell us about your best memory from an expedition?
Wow, I have loads of good memories from my expeditions, I don't know which one to choose. I love all of it and it creates such good memories. The feeling of freedom, the excitement and all the unexpected things that happens on the way. All the meetings with wild animals, to sleep under the stars far out in the Sahara Desert, the bush camps, wild camps and meeting people from different cultures. But if it's something that I find really cool is when you drive into a small village and stop in the center and just wait for the governor. He usually comes after a while. We talk for some time and then they usually offer us to have our night camp there. It is usually really good and there you get the opportunity to talk to the villagers. They are always as curious as we are, but of course respectful and gives us the privacy we need.
Do you have any expedition that you dream of doing?
The expedition I dream of is still the one where I will drive from Sweden to South Africa. I have not done that expedition yet, but it is finally within reach. I have set up a start date and I have posted it on my website.
How did you get in contact with Kyäni?
I got in contact with Kyäni when they opened in Sweden, 2009. That is when I tried the Triangle of Wellness. Me and my family found it so good that we still have it on Autoship.
Which product is you favorite and why?
My favorite product is Kyäni Sunrise. It is a nutritious antioxidant bomb and tastes really good. I am always looking forward to take my daily dose of Sunrise. I drink it cold, straight out of the fridge. Then it tastes the best.
Got to shop.kyani.net now and get your Triangle of Wellness on Autoship!
